Composition Capital Partners is an independent boutique investment management firm based in Amsterdam and Hong Kong.
Composition was founded in 2005 by Erwin Stouthamer following on from over 15 years experience in international institutional real estate investment.
The company specializes exclusively in real estate investment vehicles. Composition offers institutional investors access to international markets and reliable local partners who have proven track records.
Corporate Philosophy
The belief in acting pro-actively on behalf of investors’ interests was the driving force behind establishing Composition as an independent company capable of operating solely for investors, free of corporate distractions. Composition approaches investment from three angles:
- Understanding investor goals & objectives
- Extending the company into local real estate markets on behalf of investors
- Establishing relationships with experienced local operators
Composition is focused on selecting smaller and medium sized local operators that have direct access to deals and good asset management skills, ensuring access to and high visibility of deal flow. Composition selects players who are specialists and able to operate nimbly within their own markets.
The Team
- Composition has a team of 16 people representing 8 nationalities based in offices in Amsterdam and Hong Kong.
- The company’s senior management has each been working in institutional real estate investment in Europe, Asia and the US for over 15 years. Senior employees within the company each have between 10 and 20 years experience in real estate.
- Composition’s employees have an extensive and complimentary skill base with sound experience in: deal structuring; due diligence; asset, investment and fund management.
- The team‘s professional training and backgrounds include real estate, investment, economics, law and accountancy.
- Language skills within the company include German, French, Hindi, Mandarin, Cantonese and Japanese.
The Funds
- Composition currently manages four private equity real estate Fund of Funds. Two operate in European markets and two in Asian markets. Total capital commitments are circa US $800 million.
- Investors in Composition’s funds are institutional investors active in international investment markets.
- When Composition launched its first funds in 2005, it established the first Fund of Funds in the Asian region.
- Financial administration of the funds is conducted externally, as is an annual audit.
- The funds are diversified by country, sector, manager, time period and investment style.
- Investment vehicles are relevant to investors and market conditions and include funds, joint ventures and club deals.
